Beyond Britain

edie reports that BP (the British Beyond Petroleum company), now almost a decade into its green-image re-brand, is bailing on planned clean tech investment in the UK in favor or US-based projects.  This is a decision apparently motivated by Obama’s promise of $150 billion investment in green energy over the next ten years.

There is indeed great human and physical capital abroad which can make the US transition easier.  But here’s to hoping that the go-West green gold rush doesn’t enrich the big players at the expense of real, sustainable solutions.
